W1 - Introduction to the Design Process

Whether you are upgrading an existing system, planning a new system or planning a new facility, the design process is the key to getting it right.   The staged design process is an easy to follow guide to what is expected of you in order to best plan your systems.  Understand how to tweak the design process to suite your organization.  Understand the various parties involved that can affect the outcome.  This workshop will take a step-by-step walk through a typical project and understand how yesterday’s decisions can affect tomorrow’s outcome.

W2 - Microphones & Mic-ing Techniques

Microphones, how do they work? There are so many varieties available. Which is the one you need and how do you use it correctly?

W3 - The Mixer

What is it? What does it do? How do you use it effectively? Is it the same as the food blender?

W4 - The Digital Mixer

What's a digital mixer? What are the benefits of a digital mixer? What's in a digital mixer?
A graphical representation of a Digital Mixer System with Analog Mixer System in your House of Worship. And a demo of course!

W5 - Mixing Techniques

Now you know about microphones and what a mixer does, it’s time to learn to put it together.

W6 - Understanding Your Needs

Your needs in the Media department are determined by the types of programs that are to be undertaken.  How do you establish a vision for media systems in your facility?  How do you translate this vision into technical requirements?  How do you decide what is right for your facility?  This workshop will take a walk through the process of establishing your needs through collaboration with other ministries that require the use of the systems.

W7 - Putting It All Together & Presenting To Your Church

Now the scary part…  Requesting a budget.  How do you prepare yourself and your documentation to present to the Church committee for approval?  Understanding what the committee expects from you and be able to look through their eyes at what you are requesting.  This workshop will help you better understand the way in which to approach your respective committees such that you can move your ministry forward to meet the needs of the Church.

W8 - Practical Mixing Session with a Live Band

Knowing how to mix is good. It will be better if you get some practice with it.

W9 - Application & Results-based Vision Planning & Budgeting for Ministry Systems

How do we plan?  Who has the vision?  Who is responsible?  Who should be involved?  What do we need?  This workshop is divided into two parts.
Part 1:  Express the need for a holistic view of all your ministries to identify the accumulated vision that your media ministry is required to strive for.
Part 2:  Deals with establishing this vision, translating this vision into requirements and budgeting appropriately.

W1 - Scriptwriting

What's in a script? You've heard what a good script should have - compelling storyline, emotional pull, suspense, climax, resolution, etc. At the end of the day, those things don't mean anything until you push your pen to paper and get those writing juices oozing. Everything starts with a script. This workshop is the backbone of your short film, music video, documentary or whatever you aspire to see on screen. While we are realistic (we don't expect Wachowski brothers' material, although we are hoping to be surprised), its always pleasant to push the creative boundaries just that little bit more. Dying to tell your story? Then come, listen and learn from each other.

W2 - Camera

This workshop is about understanding the video camcorder, how to control it and produce wonderful footage that you desire. You will learn the following in this workshop:
1. Camera functions
2. F-stop and Depth of field
3. Shutter speed
4. Composition and angles
5. Basic camera movements.
6. Digital Video Formats
7. Tips and techniques shooting in the field
8. Shooting workflow

W3 - Lighting

"Lights! Camera! Action!"
So... lighting comes first, eh?
Lighting can affect the mood, and conveys many unspoken things about a shot. The type, quality and colour of light can affect what the camera sees. We'll also cover lighting equipment, safety, and the basics of lighting a shot.

W4 - Sound

The importance of sound is constantly overlooked in video productions. Many say that sound makes up half (or even more!) of your final work. This workshop endeavors to teach delegates the basic principles of sound, the tools and know-how to capture good on location sound.

W5 - Directing

Directing is all about telling stories through lenses. In this workshop, we will deal with story-telling techniques like sequencing, using cutaways and cut ins, when (& why) to use certain angles & movements, etc. Also, we will deal with planning shots and also directing in post-production.

W6 - Storytelling Editing

An editor has the power to choose what the audience gets to see. Editing is a skill that is more than just pressing buttons and following what the director tells you to do. Great editing skills can make or break your production. Knowing the editing software is merely the first step, but what differentiates a good editor from a great one is the ability to evoke emotions in each video that he or she creates. Learn not only technical skills, but the softer skills behind video editing.
